The Ithaca/Weston Track & Field Team competed Tuesday at the 2022 Ridge & Valley Conference Meet. Our team had numerous personal bests in several events. The Girls and Boys teams both gave 110% and finished 2nd place. The girls 4x800m relay team set a New Ridge & Valley Conference Meet Record. The relay team of Kaylee Miller, Emma Coy, Tierney Powell, and Kaylee Peterson ran a 10min 38.90s race. The previous record was held by North Crawford in 1995 with a 10:47.00. Kaylee Peterson set a new meet record in the 400m race with a time of 59.79s breaking the previous record of 59.91s held by Diedra Faber of Ithaca set in 2000. Caleb Marchwick set a new school record in discus with a throw of 148feet 6inches. The previous record was held by John Jones with a 147'7" throw in 1975. Results are on Accuracetiming. Congratulations to the entire team on their outstanding efforts.

Coach Harris mentored Ithaca and Richland Center athletes for over 40 years and was inducted into the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2019 as a recognition for his dedication and effort. A hot night for Ithaca/Weston track and field athletes! The weather didn't keep our athletes from doing well. At the Steve "Sparky" Reynolds Memorial Invitational last night, two new Ithaca High School records were set. Congratulations to Max Koch who broke a 50-year-old pole vault record with a 4th place finish of 11 feet 6 inches. Max set this as a goal at the start of the season, and his hard work helped him achieve it. Well done! Kaylee Peterson bested her own school record in the 800m race with a time of 2 minutes 23.94 seconds and a 1st place finish. Congratulations to her achievement and all the hard work she puts in to get there. Way to go!

A few weeks ago, first graders planted beans into plastic bags with just paper towel and water. Today we were able to join one of Mrs. Sprecher's classes to plant our beans into planters! She explained what was happening to some of our bean sprouts and explained how to plant. The high school students then helped the first graders to plant. We were also able to look at hydroponic lettuce and take some back to try. Thank you, Mrs. Sprecher, for the fun lesson!

Today is National School Nurse Day and the Ithaca Elementary found a fun way to say THANK YOU to our nurse, Mrs. Wilson, with a cot full of cards and letters. We as a staff are just as thankful for Mrs. Wilson's presence and expertise on our campus. Nurse Wilson also wanted to convey her gratitude for the wonderful cards from our elementary students and staff. National School Nurse Day was established to foster a better understanding of the role of school nurses in the educational setting. School Nurse Day is celebrated on the Wednesday within National Nurses Week.

Feel free to bring your lunch and ideas with you. Any 5-7th grade students interested in going on the trip to Washington DC the summer of 2024, please get your RSVP cards we handed out to you yesterday, back to Ms Durkin or Ms. Schmitt by Thursday morning. Local author, Dan Bomkamp, presented to our 5th through 8th grade students yesterday on his journey of becoming an author and information about his books. Thank you, Dan, for inspiring our students. A special thanks to Ms. Schmitt, Mrs. Zorea, Mr. Hess, and Mr. Wastlick for helping with the setup and scheduling. Thank you to Mrs. Schoen, fifth grade teachers and the middle school staff for your flexibility and support for this event. Finally, thank you to the students for your undivided attention during his presentation. Middle and High School: We hope you enjoyed getting some selfies with your teachers yesterday. Feel free to share your selfies with the school facebook page so we can post some! Today students are able to dress like your teachers so if there are pictures taken, please also send those our way! Tomorrow is "Thank a Teacher Day" please take the time to thank your teachers for the incredible work they do. Elementary: We hope you all gave your teachers some wonderful compliments yesterday and brought some smiles to their faces. Today you are able to dress like your teachers. If you are dressed up and would like a picture with the teacher you dressed up as, please let your teachers know and Mrs. Dickey will come around to get the pictures. Tomorrow you are all asked to thank your teachers for teaching! It can be with a card, a picture, or just something as simple as telling them "Thank You for Teaching." Hanging baskets and deck pots still available in the greenhouse for $25. The pots are big and beautiful and in a wide variety of colors and flowers. Help support the Ithaca FFA and get mom and grandma a plant she will enjoy all summer. Or get one for yourself! The Ithaca FFA will be hosting a Chicken BBQ on Thursday, May 12 from 4-8 pm by the Amphitheater. You can enjoy your dinner on the patio or drive through and take it to go. Cost is $8 for a quarter chicken, 2 sides, dinner roll, homemade dessert and a drink. We hope to see you there! Students who sign up will be able to check out up to 12 books to take home and keep over the summer for reading. Summer Check Out books must be brought back to the Library during Open House, or during the first week of school in September. To participate, students need a guardian-signed permission form that you can pick up in the Library. Please return the form by May 27th to check out your summer reading books. Happy reading! As an FCCLA project Katarina Weitzel is planning to refurbish used sweaters and blankets to create mittens and scarves for people in need in surrounding areas. To help her out with this project she would greatly appreciate it if you would consider donating old and unwanted sweaters and blankets. If you wish to donate any of these items you can either give them directly to Katarina or take them to Ms.Stocks’s room.
