Ithaca's 3rd Grade has been investigating Ancient Rome as a part of their Reading Curriculum. In conjunction with this Unit, they had the opportunity to replicate some Roman weaponry on a small scale. The goal was to shoot a pencil top eraser as far as possible. All of the teams competed valiantly, but this duo blew the competition away, firing their ammunition a staggering 31 feet!

On November 7, 2024, over 80 people attended Ithaca’s Title 1 Family Reading Event featuring the Magic of Isaiah Foster. Mr. Foster presented his Magic of Reading show which highlighted the importance of reading 20 minutes each day and using your imagination while performing magic tricks. Prior to the magic show, Andrea Newkirk held the Annual Title 1 Meeting which included information about the Title 1 Reading Program, the reading curriculum, and the assessments used at Ithaca. At the end of the event, children were able to pick out a new book to take home. Thank you to all of the families that attended this event and to Sam Hilby and the Ithaca PTSO for providing supper prior for this event. Andrea Newkirk and Summer Seehawer are grateful to Frank Wastlick, Sue Meyer, Ben Murphy, and Tom Walker for their assistance in setting up for the event and helping with the clean up, Adam Hess for assisting with the sound system, Juli Thompson for promoting the event, and Mrs. Schoen for attending and supporting our reading events. A huge thank you goes out to Juana Miller for taking pictures throughout the event. We truly appreciate Kara Steinmetz, Holly King, Alyssa Mueller, Kailey Newkirk, and Trista Pluemer for all of their assistance in setting up, serving the meal, and cleaning up.

Notes from Game Club: This past Wednesday Game Club Members were able to reignite a classic game that some of them have played on the Nintendo Wii called "Super Smash Bros Brawl". Along with 4 player mayhem, a couple of members got very competitive in the competition games that are currently held. August has now taken the lead for first place for "Asteroids" and Owen has remained first for "Pyoro". Gam Club nights are moving! We will now hold Game Club on Thursdays after school in the Ithaca LMC. If your 8th grade or High School student is interested in Game Club, have them contact Mr. Feryance, Mr. Hess, or Mr. Herbst.
