Ithaca Game Club (conducted by Mr. Aaron Feryance) is jumping into the final portion of the year with STYLE. Aaron will be introducing 2 new games to GC participants.
Crazy Taxi is a game series that was published by Sega. It was first available as an arcade game in 1999 then released for the Dreamcast console in 2000. It was the third best-selling Dreamcast game, selling over a million copies in the US. Each game has the player taking the role of a taxi Driver who must earn money by delivering passengers to their destinations in the fastest time possible. Crazy Taxi was one first prominent examples of product placement in video gaming history, with companies such as Pizza Hut, Tower Records, FILA sportswear, KFC, and the Levi's Store included. These locations were only in the arcade version, they were replaced in the later releases due to licensing issues.
Dragon's Lair is a video game franchise created by Rick Dyer and published in 1983. Rick Dyer created the code for the game, however all the animations for the game were made by ex-Disney artist Don Bluth. Mr. Bluth worked on Disney movies such as Sleeping Beauty, The Sword in the Stone, and Robin Hood. With Dragon's Lair you play as Dirk the Daring, a knight who is attempting to rescue Princess Daphne from the evil dragon, Singe, who has locked the princess in the wizard Mordoc's castle. Each game involves the player pressing the joy stick or button in the right direction to assist Dirk in progressing forward in an attempt to save Princess Daphne. Dragon's Lair became a hit for arcades, helping bring in new and old players back to the arcades. This is thanks to the Laserdisc technology which offers greatly superior graphics compared to other video games at the time.
Two of the most exciting events in Richland County have Ithaca ties! June is one of our community's busiest months with exciting events and activities. The 2024 Richland County Dairy Breakfast on Sunday, June 9th will be hosted by Ithaca farm Huff-Nel-son Dairy Farms, owned and operated by Sherry (Huffman) and Larry Nelson, their sons and daughters-in -law Aaron and Holly, Andy and Sarah, and their families. Ithaca High School senior, Josie Laue, hopes to defend her title as Wisconsin State Rodeo All-Around Cowgirl at the 2024 Wisconsin State Rodeo finals that will be held June 13-16 at the Richland County Fairgrounds. THIS DAY IN HISTORY: Wisconsin Day of Observance: April 19-Patriot’s Day On April 19, 1775, British and colonial militias engaged in the Battles of Lexington and Concord. In response to British troops marching from Boston to Concord to seize colonial arms and supplies, local colonial minutemen rushed to intercept the British troops. As they met in Lexington, shots were fired between the two groups and fighting broke out and continued throughout the day as the British soldiers returned to Boston. This event marked the beginning of the Revolutionary War.

Break a leg, forensics students! Good luck to the Ithaca High School Forensics team as they travel to De Forest to compete at the State Contest tomorrow. Students will perform one round with the goal of earning a perfect score of 25 for a Gold medal. This group of students effectively balances many activities and responsibilities, while taking on the challenge of public speaking. The team hopes to replicate the successes of other years by earning state honors as a team, as well. Ithaca will be represented by 20 students in 14 entries, which includes two group interpretation ensembles and 12 individual performers.

Time for a THROWBACK THURSDAY memory. This goes back to the 1975 Ithaca Yearbook. The class of 1979 buried a TIME CAPSULE - Does anyone know if this was dug up, as planned, in 1999?
This has been a big hit with the older students, middle and high school. We are looking for donations: socks, underwear for K-12 grade, spring clothes, shorts, spring jackets, old Bulldog clothes that you no longer use. I am also in the process of adding a freshening up station for students to use. They can freshen up before school and maybe grab a snack.
