Today is Bullying Awareness Day, established as one of 21 Wisconsin Public School Observance Days to bring attention to the harmful effects of bullying in the school setting. Bullying may negatively impact a student's connection with school, their engagement with the curriculum, and their overall ability to learn. Bullying prevention is critical to building a school environment conducive to learning, and where students feel safe at all times.

Today is POW-MIA Recognition Day
In the United States, National POW/MIA Recognition Day is observed on the third Friday in September. It honors those who were prisoners of war and those who are still missing in action. It is most associated with those who were POWs during the Vietnam War.
By Wisconsin statute, the day is observed on the Friday of the third week in September.
Bower-Gunnill-Dalton VFW Post 2267 representatives will be at different locations in Richland Center for the Buddy Poppy distribution in conjunction with National POW/MIA Recognition Day Friday, September 20th and Saturday, September 21st. People who make a donation will be given a Poppy to wear.

Don't forget that tomorrow is 3rd Count Friday - please ensure your student/s attend school tomorrow for this very important day.

Today is day 2 of the 15 day kindness challenge. Be sure to document those kind acts and challenge yourself to be creative. You can turn in and get more journals outside Mrs. Clarys classroom.
In addition, Ithaca is teaming with the Think Kindness organization for a shoe drive. If you have slightly used or new tennis shoes you can bring them to Mrs. Clary's room anytime within the 15 day kindness window. These shoes will then be donated to kids just like you who simply can't afford their own.
