FairEntry is open for the Ithaca Fair! We've added several "fair themed" classes this year. Note: Following the Richland Co. Fair, no lactating dairy cattle will be shown this year due to the avian flu strain found in dairy herds across the country. Events listed on the first page are still pending while we are still organizing.

From Mr. Herbst:
Going to class prepared is an expectation of students, just as going to work prepared is an expectation of adults. In our three days of school last week, there were excessive requests from students to go to their respective cars because they forgot something. I have instructed the school secretaries to deny these requests, so be responsible and gather what is necessary from your vehicle before entering the building. Thank you, young adults.

Adam Hess here, if you follow me on Facebook or listen to me on the radio then you know I fancy myself as somewhat of a HOME CHEF, a food connoisseur, and a bit of an amateur food reviewer. I never thought I would be compelled to review a school lunch, yet here we are at Ithaca. Today's lunch was billed as "Orange Chicken Bowl with Brown Rice and Asian Vegetable Blend" and "coleslaw" but it was SOOO much more. Julie Severance brought together a homemade orange sauce recipe, brown rice, and Asian vegetables with a simply delectable coleslaw, authored by Marla Smith. The homemade taste (because it WAS) of this meal was deliberate, bold, and most of all DELICIOUS! The orange chicken was tender, the veggies snapped with a slight crunch, the peppers melted their way into my palate, and the sauce settled onto the taste buds and said WELCOME HOME. The coleslaw married creaminess and crispness into a PERFECT union for one of the best coleslaw I have indulged in for quite some time. All that AND a salad bar sourcing LOCAL foods and rivaling a restaurant. After a lunch like that all I have to say is......WHAT'S FOR DINNER?
Here is a quick reminder. There will be NO SCHOOL tomorrow, Friday, at Ithaca.
Aquí hay un recordatorio rápido. NO HABRÁ CLASES mañana viernes en Ithaca.

Quotes from our 1st grade students.
"My favorite part about the library is all the books!"
"Checking out books is my favorite part of Library class!
Ithaca is looking for donations for our "Blessing in a Bag". "Blessing in a Bag" is part of the Bulldog Boutique, and our goal is to send snacks or small lunches home with students in need, for the weekend. We would be SO appreciative of donations of non- perishable food. Some ideas are: Granola bars (no nuts) cereal bars, single-serving oatmeal and cereals, fruit cups, raisins, applesauce (squeeze or cups), cheese crackers (no peanut butter please), goldfish crackers, graham crackers, fruit snacks, beef jerky sticks, pop-top ravioli or spaghetti, macaroni and cheese, chicken noodle or tomato soup, ramen noodles, fruit juice boxes, small bottles of water and more.
Remember we ask PLEASE NO PEANUT BUTTER AND NO ITEMS REQUIRING REFRIGERATION. We could also use resealable, gallon storage bags (Ziplock style, any brand will work fine) to store the food in.
The BLESSING IN A BAG will be handed out, discreetly, on Friday afternoons. Your generosity and kindness is so appreciated!
What's for lunch at Ithaca you ask? Local beef and bean nachos! The fabulous salad bar is back! Although the lunch line might "look" different, we're serving up the famous salad bar. Helping our youngest Bulldogs navigate the line, the experienced older students worked to help them make colorful and delicious choices.
