The School District of Ithaca will hold an election of school board members for the School Board of said district on April 5, 2022, being the first Tuesday in April, at the same time with the same municipal election hours and the same polling places used for the elections held in the various municipalities lying wholly or partially within the School District. There will also be a referendum question concerning the use and future existence of the Ithaca Community Gymnasium, owned by the Ithaca School District. Ithaca High School Forensics has a storied history of success and talent. This group is working hard toward maintaining that tradition and reputation. The need for blood product donations continues to be at high levels. Our very own student, Ben Huebsch has been a recipient of blood products as part of his journey with Burkitt's Lymphoma. The Ithaca FFA is hosting the spring blood drive in honor of Ben on Friday, April 8th from 9am until 2pm. Blood from this company stays local and can help save so many lives. We have a huge goal of 75 DONORS! Please help us reach the goal to honor Ben and his fight with cancer.

This Day in History: March 25 1967 Martin Luther King Jr. leads march against the Vietnam War The Reverend Martin Luther King Jr., leads a march of 5,000 antiwar demonstrators in Chicago. This Day in History: Exxon Valdez crashes, causing one of the worst oil spills in history March 24, 1989: One of the worst oil spills in U.S. history begins when the supertanker Exxon Valdez, owned and operated by the Exxon Corporation, runs aground on a reef in Prince William Sound in southern Alaska. An estimated 11 million gallons of oil eventually spilled into the water.

Lewis and Clark depart Fort Clatsop The Corps of Discovery arrived at the Pacific the previous November, having made a difficult crossing over the rugged Rocky Mountains. Their winter stay on the south side of the Columbia River—dubbed Fort Clatsop in honor of the local Native American tribe—had been plagued by rainy weather and a scarcity of fresh meat. No one in the Corps of Discovery regretted leaving Fort Clatsop behind.

Ithaca has some talented authors! The local Delta Kappa Gamma chapter recognized local winners, and we couldn't be prouder to share our list of Ithaca students selected to receive awards. Congratulations!
In 1985, Wisconsin established the Mary Jo Nettesheim Literary Competition. Over the years, grades 3-12 and a bilingual Spanish section were added, with Illustrator Awards being added in 1990. At this time, Wisconsin’s State Organization is the only state in the Delta Kappa Gamma International Organization to sponsor a Literary Competition.
Each local DKG chapter judges the original fiction and/or enhanced personal narrative books based on Story Structure/Organization, Creativity/ Originality, accomplished spelling, sentence structure and grammar, as well as Presentation/Illustrations.

This Day in History: First women's college basketball game played On March 22, 1893, the first women’s college basketball game is played at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. With each made basket counting as one point and the game lasting two 15-minute halves, a sophomore class team prevails over a freshmen team, 5-4. Men are not permitted inside the gym at the all-women college, but a crowd of fascinated women cheer on their fellow classmates from the running track of the campus gymnasium. The winning team earns a gold and white banner.

This Day in History: Martin Luther King Jr. begins the march from Selma to Montgomery In the name of African American voting rights, 3,200 civil rights demonstrators in Alabama, led by Martin Luther King Jr., begin a historic march from Selma to Montgomery, the state’s capital. Federalized Alabama National Guardsmen and FBI agents were on hand to provide safe passage for the march, which twice had been turned back by Alabama state police at Selma’s Edmund Pettus Bridge.
