Word of the Day:
Heinous: acts, deeds, or crimes that are hatefully or shockingly evil The former dictator will stand trial for the role he played in his government’s heinous treatment of political dissidents.
This Day in History:
On October 4, 1927, sculpting began on the face of Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills National Forest of South Dakota. It would take another 12 years for the granite images of four of America’s most revered presidents—George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt—to be completed.
Safety First! Last year on behalf of Nurse Wilson the Safety Committee asked the Ithaca PTSO if they would help purchase needed first aid/ emergency supplies for The District Nurse's Office. In true Bulldog fashion they made it happen! Thanks to the generous donation from the PTSO, Nurse Wilson was able to get the much needed first aid/ emergency supplies for the building. An emergency medical bag that is fully stocked for emergencies, first aid kit supplies, and more are now available. Last week when the remainder of the supplies arrived, Nurse Wilson and Tina Ramsden got to work putting together classroom first aid kits. Today some of our Middle School Bulldogs delivered the kits to every room. Nurse Wilson and the Safety Committee send a BIG THANK YOU to the Ithaca PTSO for making this happen.
Popcorn Friday will be this Friday, October 4! Elementary students, your classroom teacher will take your order and money. Middle School and High School students you will be able to purchase yours during breakfast, at the end of your hallways. Cost is $0.50 per bag, limit 2 bags per person. Help support the 1st grade class!
It has been a busy start to the school year, and Ithaca's District Nurse Wilson has been hard at work making sure our students' health needs are met. Those needs could not be fully met without the generous donations from Ithaca families. Nurse Wilson wants to extend a heartfelt "Thank You!" to the families that have donated much needed supplies to the Nurse's office.

Come one! Come all! There is something for everyone at the Ithaca School Fair and Homecoming. Use this schedule of events to plan your Friday and Saturday - October 11th and 12th.
The Ithaca District Nurse would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Cardinal CG! They generously donated 5 LifeVac's to the Ithaca School District. LifeVac is a non-invasive airway clearance device designed to remove airway obstructions in a victim that is choking when current choking protocols have been followed without success. While we hope we never have to use them, thanks to Cardinal CG we now have them if they are ever needed, adding an extra layer of safety and protection for the Ithaca student's staff and community.
Today (well, everyday should be, Frank Wastlick-ly - see what we did there?) is School Custodian Appreciation Day! "Thank you" isn't nearly enough to show our gratitude for all our custodial crew does to keep our buildings and grounds looking great. When you see our staff, be sure to offer your appreciation for their commitment and dedication.
THANK YOU!! Frank Wastlick, Sue Meyer, Ben Murphy, Tom Walker, Trenton Boland (sub)
Your help is so valuable! The Ithaca Fair is one of three left in the whole state! This makes October 12th extraordinary and a reason so many alumni and community members come to celebrate. All families are music program families, and it takes all of us to make the Fair a success. By volunteering a short shift, you help make the Fair the best our district has to offer, and you show our community why Ithaca is great! Please consider volunteering or donating to provide meals in the Community Gym and in the High School Commons. Check out the Ithaca Bands and Ithaca Choir FB pages for details or use these links to sign up.

MAKE THE RIGHT CALL! There's a nationwide shortage of high school officials. Nearly every sport is being affected. In some communities the shortage is critical, and high school games are being postponed or even cancelled.
Becoming a high school official is the easiest call you’ll ever make. High school officials protect the integrity of the games we love by demonstrating qualities like honesty, objectivity, consistency and courage. Officiating will be inspiring, invigorating, educational and fun. But it will be equally rewarding as you help high school students learn life lessons that will benefit them for the rest of their lives. Go to HighSchoolOfficials.com to sign up or find more information.
Teachers at Ithaca were given books from the national Pura Belpre book committee. In 2023, our school librarian, Emily Zorea, served on this committee and was sent boxes of books by publishers. Each book was considered for an award. The award winners were announced earlier this year, and these books now will have a second role in building classroom libraries.
Congratulations this past weekend to the Ithaca WIHA team! They had a very successful weekend at district and will be advancing to state competition. State competition will be held Oct 25-27 at the Alliant Energy Center- Madison, WI.
Congratulations and Good Luck to the following: Maggie Kershner, Ellie Otto and Coach, Jeny Laue.
