As we gear up for the new school year the Ithaca Administration along with our District Nurse have been helping our staff start to prepare for a safe and healthy school year. Nurse Wilson had the assistance of staff from The Richland Hospital for this training. Our staff were educated on the basics of how to give CPR from Nurse Wilson, or received the full certification and the basics of CPR from The Richland Hospital. Some staff had a previous CPR certification. The Ithaca Administration team and Nurse Wilson are happy to say that all of the Ithaca teaching, kitchen, and transportation staff have either received the knowledge of how to perform CPR or the full certification of CPR.

Sara Jones, a 2021 Ithaca graduate, is vying for the title of “Ms. Star and Stripes” and you can help by voting for her. “Ms. Star and Stripes” is searching for ONE woman who represents a “country” way of life to be crowned Ms. Stars and Stripes in 2022! The winner will be featured in a 2-page story in STAR Magazine and will win $25,000. If chosen as the winner, Sara Jones plans to use the $25,000 to further her education. Ms. Jones went on to say “I would use it (the prize money) to further my education, I am currently working on Pre-Vet and eventually plan on going for Veterinary medicine with a specialty in Equine.” When asked why she would make a good “Ms. Stars and Stripes” she said “I was raised riding horses, from Saddle Seat, open trails , to roping and cow horse events. I'm also 4th generation on my family farm. My happy place is the barn. It's a great place to destress and work with the horses.” You can support one of Ithaca’s own by voting for Sara Jones at the following link: https://msstripes.org/2022/sara-jones?fbclid=IwAR0-sp7pqmZk1KmoDEozCaQfuCdjH5ij0SKCG8MfqQscaCtQJIIK6v8ZR8A

This summer, a brick display area was built in memory of Jay O'Connell, a community member who assisted with agriculture and technical education projects, the Ithaca Fair, and the track team before he passed away in January of 2021. A dedication ceremony for this area will be held during the 100th School Fair on Saturday, September 24 at 12:30. Brick sales are still open! What better time to purchase a brick for your family, class, business, or in honor of a loved one who has passed? Orders placed on or before Monday, August 22 will be added to the memorial prior to the fair this year. Orders placed after August 22 will be added to the memorial at a later date. Orders can be made online at www.thatsmybrick.com/ithacawi. Purchases from this fundraiser will help fund more outdoor structures and activities for the Ithaca students. If you have any questions about purchasing a brick, please contact Jenna Wipperfurth at 608-585-2311 ext. 116 or via email: jenna.wipperfurth@ithaca.k12.wi.us.
