Are you excited for the 100th Ithaca School Fair and Homecoming? We are! Show your excitement and spirit next week with dress up days for all students - see the schedule for your student. The Homecoming Dance theme is "Through the Century." Plan to attend the dance on Saturday, Sept. 24th in the Ithaca High School Commons from 8:00pm until 11:00pm.

Menu change for Friday and Monday - Friday's choices are Fish Wedges or Rib BBQ, and Monday's choices are Cheddarwurst or Brat on a bun. Thank you for understanding. At times, changes may be necessary without notice due to challenges in supplies and delivery.

It's BRICK time again! This summer, a brick display area was built in memory of Jay O'Connell, a community member who assisted with agriculture and technical education projects, the Ithaca Fair, and the track team before he passed away in January of 2021. A dedication ceremony for this area will be held during the 100th School Fair on Saturday, September 24 at 12:30. Brick sales are still open! What better time to purchase a brick for your family, class, business, or in honor of a loved one who has passed? Orders placed on or before Monday, August 22 will be added to the memorial prior to the fair this year. Orders placed after August 22 will be added to the memorial at a later date. Orders can be made online at www.thatsmybrick.com/ithacawi. Purchases from this fundraiser will help fund more outdoor structures and activities for the Ithaca students. If you're heading to Weston tonight for Ithaca Bulldog Volleyball, let the Weston FBLA and Volleyball groups make you supper! They are hosting a Burger Bash and bake sale. Debunking Free and Reduced Meals Myths We urge you to complete and return the free and reduced meals form! You way ask, “Why?” Read on to find out why that application is so valuable! 1) I don’t qualify, so I shouldn’t apply. ~What the state deems as “qualifies” may be different than your point of view. It doesn’t harm anything or anyone to fill out the form. 2) I don’t want free or reduced meals for my children, so I shouldn’t apply. ~Qualifying for free or reduced meals does NOT mean your family needs to accept them. BUT! Having families that do qualify increases funding that our school receives for other programs. That funding can help us provide more learning opportunities for our students and more resources for our staff! If you qualify, even if you don’t participate in the program, our district still may receive the added funding. 3) I don’t want other students or adults to know we participate in the free or reduced meals program. ~Ithaca takes this very seriously. No one outside of our food service leadership and administration knows this information. Treating students or families differently because they receive free or reduced meals will not be tolerated in the Ithaca School District. If you received this benefit last year, families must reapply before October 3rd. Everyone can complete the form! Doing so can help our students, families, and staff in so many ways. This Day in History: Sept 11, 2001 At approximately 8:46 a.m. on a clear Tuesday morning, an American Airlines Boeing 767 loaded with 20,000 gallons of jet fuel crashes into the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. The impact left a gaping, burning hole near the 80th floor of the 110-story skyscraper, instantly killing hundreds of people and trapping hundreds more in higher floors. Then, 17 minutes after the first plane hit, a second Boeing 767--United Airlines Flight 175-appeared out of the sky, turned sharply toward the World Trade Center, and sliced into the south tower at about the 60th floor. American Airlines Flight 77 circled over downtown Washington, D.C. and slammed into the west side of the Pentagon military headquarters at 9:37 a.m. At 10:28 a.m., the other Trade Center tower collapsed.
