The Ithaca Greenhouse opening is in sight!
The Ithaca Middle School Sources of Strength group gathered at UW-Platteville with other Middle School groups for their annual regional retreat. Students shared with one another which of the 8 identified “Sources of Strength” they feel “strong” in (family support, positive friends, mentors, healthy activities, generosity, spirituality, physical health, and/or mental health) and what strengths they would like to grow in. They participated in activities to grow these strengths and brainstormed about how to help their peers know and grow in THEIR strengths.
Are you a parent of a child that attends Ithaca? Then you are a member of the Ithaca PTSO! PTSO does so many great things at Ithaca with one of them being supporting our staff. On Monday, March 11th, there are no classes at Ithaca so teachers can spend time visiting with parents about their students' academics. We would like to provide them with a dinner of soups/chili, bread, salad and desserts. We are asking for donations to help feed our staff and show them how much they are appreciated! Please email or call Ms. Sprecher to let her know what you would like to supply for the dinner. Thank you for your help!

The Ithaca art club purchased Hayes Anliker a set of “color correcting” glasses, because he is color blind. The glasses will help him see colors. This week the Art Club and a large portion of the elementary school, attended the presentation of these glasses to Mr. Anliker.

An epic Southern romance set during the hard times of the Civil War, the movie swept the prestigious Best Picture, Director, Screenplay, Cinematography, Art Direction, Film Editing, and Actress categories. However, the most momentous award that night undoubtedly went to Hattie McDaniel for her portrayal of “Mammy,” a housemaid and former enslaved woman. A new challenge approaches our Game Club! Over the next month, Game Club Students will play the games Tetris and Sonic Spinball as part of Game Club's next "in-club competition". Both games are classic titles, with different histories. Tetris was released in 1989 for the Nintendo Entertainment System and it sold over 8 million copies making it the popular game people know today. Sonic Spinball was released in 1993 for the Sega Genesis. This was one of the first games that used the character as the pinball in different playing fields. Rolling with the good times at Ithaca! Roller skating education is underway! Stay tuned in the upcoming weeks, as we will highlight classes of the roller skating unit at Ithaca Elementary. Thanks to Mr. Stetson Clary of Ithaca and Mr. Phil Wallace of Galaxie Skate Center!
Ithaca lessons aren't ALWAYS in the classroom! Mrs. Sprecher's 8th Grade AgX determining the best type of fertilizer. They did a nitrate test on 3 different fertilizers and the rate at which the fertilizer leaches from the soil based on soil type and fertilizer type.
We need your help with naming the MS Science mascot (our upside down crab), but first: Ithaca's 6th grade geologists started their new unit on Monday - Earth's oceans! Since Ms. Schmitt couldn't take students to the ocean, she brought the ocean to the students! As the 6th grade class studies submarine structures, currents and waves, and threats to ocean health, they can get up close and personal with some of the ocean's creatures - from colorful corals to shiny shells to creepy crabs, the ocean has it all!
Now, for the HELP WANTED: We need to name our upside down crab - A "thumbs up" for Clawdio, a "heart" for Leonardo daPinchy - OR if you have a name you would like to throw our way, we would always LOVE a write in candidate!
