Updated cancellations: State FCCLA and FBLA competitions have been cancelled at this time.
Please review most current posts to stay up-to-date with cancellations. They are posted quickly after the decisions are dispersed.
With regard to student and community health and safety the winter sports banquet for Monday has been cancelled.
Due to the cancellation, the gear turn in for boys basketball will be Monday after school.
Forensics students: Although your season has been cut short, your coaches are very proud of you for working so hard and performing so well.
From the Executive Director of the Wisconsin High School Forensic Association: It is with a heavy heart we must announce cancellation of ALL speech festivals – district and State – for the remainder of the season. Today, Gov. Tony Evers declared a public health emergency, and in accordance, State Statute Ch. 250 requires we cancel our events. With uncertainty and limited time between now and the end of the school year, there are no reasonable means to plan and execute an alternate timeline for festival dates or locations. Several other states have cancelled their State Speech contests, so this is, indeed, an extraordinary situation.
Mr. Favreau was informed that the FFA Contest hosted by UW-Platteville, which was to be held next week on March 19th has been canceled. This was a decision made by the UW-P folks and the FFA has not responded as of yet with any possible makeup alternatives (sites or dates). This is a State qualifying event....so updates will be posted out as soon as possible.
The March PTSO meeting will be held next Wednesday, March 18 at 3:45 in the LMC. Babysitting will be provided. We hope to see you there!
Today’s $50 winner of the Ithaca Wrestling Calendar Raffle is Jim Bailey.
Forensics Students and Parents: The district meet is currently scheduled for Saturday, March 21 at UW Platteville. Students should be at school to board the bus at 6:10 that morning; return time will be approximately 2:00 p.m.
Important information related to the Covid 19 virus:
From the Forensics Association: Effective immediately, all WHSFA District festivals are closed to outside guests (i.e., family, friends, etc.). Only contestants and adjudicators will be allowed in contest rooms. This will be strictly enforced. Rounds cannot begin if any additional people beyond adjudicator, contestants, or a school-sanctioned aide for a student with special needs is in the room.
With that in mind, students should plan to ride the bus both to and from Platteville.
In the event that UW Platteville becomes unavailable due to the virus, the location of the district meet may change. Cancellation is a possibility if there is no alternative.
