Jan. 13, 2021 Today is a Day 1 Elementary Day 1 This Thursday, January 14th is the Richland Center Junior Bowlers Papa Murphy's Share Night. It will run from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Junior Bowlers Scholarship Program. Forensics Team: Make sure to meet with a coach this week. Everyone needs to choose a category and a topic by Friday. Mrs. Murphey will be in on Thursday, but you can reach her by email at any time. Attention high school girls: The John Deere Women in STEM Career Day will be held on Tuesday, February 23 from 8:30-2 PM via Zoom. This is a free, one-day event for high school women to learn about careers that require creative problem solving, encourage forward thinking, and make a difference in society. If you are interested in attending this workshop, please see Mr. Klang for more information and a parental permission form which must be turned in to him or Mrs. Plonka by Thursday, January 28. The 6th/7th grade team won, 12-11 and the 8th grade won with a score of 23-22. Congratulations girls! The 8th grade girls basketball team defeated Weston Friday night, 28-13. It was a great team effort WIN to start the season! Congratulations, girls! Both Middle School Girls Basketball teams will host Kickapoo tonight! The 6th & 7th graders will play at 5:00, with the 8th grade game to follow. Middle School Girls Basketball will be traveling to Weston tonight for their season opener! Start time is 6:00PM and only 2 specters per athlete are allowed. There will be only one game, with that being the 8th grade. Tonight’s roster: Maggie Kershner, Holly King, Kailey Newkirk, Ari Louis, Trista Pluemer, Tristen Peterson, Bailey Wanless, Alyssa Mueller & Brooklyn Dickey. Good Luck tonight Lady Bulldogs! Dear Parents and Guardians: We have been notified that one high school student and one elementary student have recently been diagnosed with COVID-19. All close contacts (6’ or less for over 15 minutes in a 24 hour period) have already been contacted. We have implemented the CDC recommended protocols for positive cases in schools. This includes thorough disinfection of all potentially affected rooms and surfaces. If your child exhibits any symptoms of COVID-19, we ask that you keep him/her home and seek the advice of your medical provider immediately or Richland County Health Department. Some symptoms of COVID-19 may include fever, new cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, headache, fatigue, muscle aches, or loss of taste or smell.

A reminder that we are tree nut/peanut sensitive which means you make every attempt to NOT have any tree nuts/peanuts in food you bring into the school. This applies to all sporting activities, field trips, and bus riding. We cannot emphasize this enough. This is literally a life/death situation. Besides the obvious sources, check labels for wording like "may contain tree nuts" or "produced on shared equipment with tree nuts or peanuts". Foods with labels that reflect contact with or actually containing peanuts or tree nuts pose a serious life/death risk to those with these types of allergies.

The Ithaca School District is welcoming families to our registration and screening event for the 2021-2022 school year. Screening allows us to get to know your child better and anticipate any needs your child may have. If your child will be three-years-old or four-years-old on or before September 1st, 2021, please call the Ithaca School District to register at (608) 585-2311. Screening packets will be sent home based on the information you provide and we will follow up with you as stated in your screening packet materials. We cannot wait to meet our future Bulldog pups!

The Curriculum Committee meeting scheduled for this Thursday, January 7th has been cancelled.

Congratulations to the following students who placed in the Voice of Democracy contest through the Richland Center VFW Post 2267 last November: 6th grader Aliyah Swenson received 2nd place on her essay "What is Patriotism to Me?" and in the high school division where the topic was "Is This the Country the Founders Envisioned?" Erica Steinmetz also placed second and Emma Schoen placed first in the county and second at district with her essay. We are proud of you!
