With warmer weather right around the corner and the school year in its final quarter, many students are starting to think about making summer plans. Southwest Tech’s 13th annual Tech Trek has been scheduled this year for the mornings of July 15 - 18. The camp’s focus will continue to be a technical exploratory camp for students entering 7th - 9th grade with the sessions giving students an opportunity to explore technical careers through hands-on activities lead by Southwest Tech program instructors. This year’s camp will feature many new sessions for a total of 29 offerings ranging from welding to nursing to firefighting to culinary, just to name a few. The cost will be $35 for the four morning sessions, and as a part of this fee, students will receive Tech Trek t-shirt and a mid-morning snack.

This year’s Charger Tech Academy for students entering grades 8 -12 has also been scheduled for June 18 and 19. This event has been designed to assist students in selecting or narrowing down career areas that they may be interested in after high school. The event is planned to be an extension of our Program Visit Days giving students a more in-depth exposure to a program area while participating in activities related to the program.
Students may select to attend just one ½-day session or multiple sessions of their choice. Each session will be three hours in length (9:00 AM – noon or 12:30 PM – 3:30 PM). The cost will be $15 per ½-day session, and as a part of this fee, students will receive Charger Tech Academy t-shirt and either a morning or afternoon snack. If students choose to attend for the full day, lunch will also be provided.
